I always say that the people who create the manuals for Lego should design all instruction manuals, as they are incredibly well-explained, colorful, and professionally made. There were no issues during assembly, and I even had leftover pieces. The product arrived exactly as described, with each piece flawlessly crafted and free from any paint defects or fitting issues. The final arrangement looked beautiful once assembled. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys building, loves flowers, or wants to try something new for a few hours of distraction. It also makes a great gift, which is what this turned into, and the recipient loved the assembly process. The only downside is that the manual is not available in Brazilian Portuguese. It includes three to five languages in different sections, but none are in Portuguese, despite the product being sold in the country. If the instructions weren’t illustrated and straightforward, it could pose a challenge for someone receiving it as a gift or buying it for themselves.

Plantlife is definitely a “survival of the fittest” scenario for me, much like my laundry habits. I adore plants, but I often forget they exist. While overwatering used to be my downfall, I’ve now shifted to underwatering and various mishaps, resulting in a collection of hardy succulents and a lot of plastic plants.
So, when Lego introduced their line of flowers and plants, I was thrilled! I snagged an ‘open-box’ Orchid kit from Amazon Warehouse, and I’ve had great luck with them—only one kit was missing pieces, while the rest had just dented boxes. The build was a blast! I appreciated that you get to create the pot as well. Once I understood the assembly, I customized it by adding extra pieces to make the stamens and sepals look more realistic, thanks to the surplus of spare parts I have.
The flexibility in adjusting the plant is fantastic; you can choose how many stems and open blooms you want. I wanted more single-piece buds, which Lego had available in their pick-a-brick section for around $5 each. While that’s a bit pricey for single pieces (most are just a few cents), I often place orders to replace lost pieces or to fulfill new project ideas. Adding a few of these buds to a larger order is worth it for me. Interestingly, they’re currently listed as minifig heads since they share the Demogorgon minifigure mold—imagine a colorful orchid made with those!
I also have my eye on creating a pink and white orchid mantis, especially since the new White Rabbit kit shares many compatible pieces.
Orchids are amazing, but I never buy them for myself or anyone I know because, well, we tend to kill them. Despite their hardiness, I’ve struggled to keep plants alive even after extensive research. After my spider plant took a dive from a high shelf, I decided to spare living plants from my care.
(At least, that’s what my cat insists happened. He wouldn’t lie, would he?)
My mom loves plants and wanted me to care for her beautiful, blooming orchids while she was away for several weeks. I thought it would be easy—just a bit of water each week. Unfortunately, I ended up knocking the pot off the counter, and it shattered into pieces.
The replacement plant I got her turned out to be irresistible to her cats, who had never shown interest in plants before. The next replacement had tiny spiders, and despite my gentle insect treatment, it never thrived and is now just a sad cluster of sticks.
Now, my mom has a Lego orchid on her bathroom counter, and she finds the whole situation quite amusing. Given her other plants, like my Christmas Cactus that blooms only on Easter and cuttings from my very aggressive Jade plant, I’m not sure what else she expected from me—I seem to attract the quirky plants.
Her grandkids often “accidentally” take it apart, and I always put it back together. The cats have knocked it over during their midnight zoomies, and I’ve repaired it each time without any mess or guilt. This kit is a gift that keeps on giving. My 13-year-old nephew can rebuild it in a couple of hours (thankfully, I kept the instructions, and they’re available online). I’d say it’s suitable for ages 8 and up for seasoned Lego builders, but be prepared for a couple of tricky sections.
The building techniques used for the pot and securing the stems are impressive, making it quite sturdy (though it doesn’t fare well against tile floor falls—though I’m not sure any Lego would). There are clever piece uses throughout, although I’ll never look at pink frogs the same way again.
I enjoyed this kit so much that I bought one for myself and several other large plant kits shortly after. They just need occasional dusting and retrieval of minifigs when the kids visit. From about six feet away, it looks lovely—blurry but beautiful—tricking me into thinking I have a real plant. Considering my goldfish-like memory, that’s not as hard as it sounds (“Hey, look, a castle!”).
Plus, it hasn’t met a tragic end, so my cat seems uninterested in it. He just likes to lounge on the instructions while I build.
(Lego customer service has even accepted photos of him with pieces he claimed as his own and sent me replacements. They’re truly wonderful people there—I adore them! Treat them kindly, and they’ll work magic for you.)
Overall, this kit is fantastic, fitting perfectly into any decor style, whether it’s adult chic or Lego Metropolis with Jurassic Park (and space!). It looks great and brings me joy every time I see it. It’s easy to fix and rebuild, and after several unfortunate incidents, I’ve noticed no loosening of the parts that hold the stems or flowers. I genuinely love this set, and I hope you enjoy it just as much!
